Hi, friendly reminder, you should definitely give any story you click on ao3 a kudos, like at base level. Even if you lose interest, and unless you actively hate it, because otherwise you’re still affecting the kudos:hits ratio and basically giving the author a collective negative review. They are watching the hit counter go up and the kudos stay low and like, authors work really hard.
It’s like a low reblogs:high likes count on here, with the slight upside you can at least sort by kudos on Ao3, but even then, it’s not getting seen if you don’t give the kudos.
And maybe I just fundamentally misunderstood the kudos button, but it seems like it’s there as the simple and easiest for of engagement, because it’s like, you’re on the page. Even if you didn’t get to the end where the button is, you can scroll really quick and just click it and go, like, just give someone a little boost for their day.
It’s too easy to not to be giving kudos out like they’re candy on halloween guys.
